Black & White Kitty 87:2011

Today's DailyShoot assignment was to make a photo in black and white. This is the sweet black and white kitty who "adopted" us during our January blizzard. She hangs out on our patio and does a little hunting on the side. We want to catch her and take her to the vet for spaying and shots, but we can't even get close to her before she runs off. Hopefully, we'll be successful before she presents us with kittens.

Son's Knit Afghan 86:2011

I've started a new project, a knitted afghan for my son, who goes to college out of state. After several crochet projects, I felt the need to knit, in a big way! My son's only request was that his afghan be "cable-rific" and washable. This afghan pattern has cables, and my daughter had to teach me how. The needles are size 13, and the wool is Lion Brand Wool-Ease Chunky in Willow. The pattern calls it a "quick knit." We'll see. I anticipate it taking a few months to complete. I'm enjoying the yarn and the pattern. Hopefully I can get it done before the heat of summer.

Tree Buds 84:2011

I often park next to this tree at school. It is now bursting forth with buds and I just love these colors! While I was taking pictures after school, some 3rd graders rode up to me on their bikes. It was a beautiful Friday afternoon, about 70 degrees, and they were so excited to see to see a teacher outside of school. We hugged and I took several pictures of them, too.
I took this picture with one of our new school cameras, the Canon A495. I don't know what kind of tree this is, but it is rather small and produces berries.

Trio 74:2011

I love the detail of these candlesticks on the hearth at my mom's house. As I do my 365 Project, I find that I really love capturing the close-ups.

Calico on Calico 73:2011

Helena is one of my mother's two calico cats. How she ever jumped up on to this bed is a mystery. She's quite the hefty girl.

Gazing Ball 72:2011

I was wearing an orange shirt when I took this photo of the gazing ball in my mother's back yard. Can you tell? It is Spring Break, and I am playing catch up with my 365 Project.

Bradford Pear Blooms 71:2011

The Bradford Pear trees at Steed Elementary were in bloom last week. While I'm not a big fan of the trees themselves, their blooms are very pretty. The accompanying pollen wreaks havoc with everyone's allergies, however. I had to hold my breath while taking these photos. I used one of our new school cameras, a Canon A495.

Seussical Second Graders 70:2011

Our 2nd graders put on a great Dr. Seuss music program last night. They had so much energy and joy all week long. I loved the Green Eggs and Ham song the best, and so did they. Our music student teacher, Miss Jackson, directed the program with Mrs. Dunaway, and it was so cute!

Swingin' Art 69:2011 #365project

This happy sculpture is one of two that brighten up the exterior of our library. I don't know who made it or how long it's been there. I'll have to investigate! Anyway it's a nice little surprise when you take a shortcut around the library. I think I love the wild hair the most!

Smiles 65:2011 #365project

The boy loves his aunt! We enjoyed visiting our college son and my sister-in-law's family this weekend. We're lucky that our son can go to school out of state and still have family close by. Today's DailyShoot assignment was a smile. =) Taken with iPod Touch.

I Can Read With My Eyes Shut 63:2011

On Monday, I read Dr. Seuss' I Can Read With My Eyes Shut! to PreK classes. We shut our eyes tight, to see if we could read with our eyes shut, or if it made our eyebrows too hot. The DailyShoot assignment for today is something amusing. I think the kids' scrunched up expressions are a hoot!

After the Bus Leaves 62:2011

I do bus duty after school every day. This bench seems so lonely after the bus arrives to take kids home. Today it was very windy, and the Bradford Pear trees were starting to bloom, so everyone's allergies were acting up. The DailyShoot assignment for today was to capture shadows.

Foot Book 60:2011

The March bulletin boards are already going up! Here's one from Mrs. Johnson, based on Dr. Seuss' The Foot Book. Kinders made opposite pairs to go up on the big foot outside one of the room's (unused) doors. Mrs. Johnson has such great ideas! We just need a larger laminator, one wide enough to handle all her creations.
